Reiki - What It Is
The word “Reiki” translates to spiritual energy – facilitating calm and balance, restoring wellness and encouraging self-empowerment.
As a hands-on healing technique, it involves no massage, manipulation or pressure. Rather, the practitioner acts as an intermediary between universal life force energy and the recipient, placing their hands gently on or above the body. The energy will be stimulated and shifted, depending on the individual client needs.
Your practitioner may also incorporate symbols, mantras and crystals into a session to facilitate additional healing.
Origins
The origins of Reiki can be traced back well over 2,000 years but much of the early knowledge was lost. The style of Reiki utilised by Alison was developed by Usui Mikao, born in 1865 and passed down through his students, now numbering into the thousands globally.
